What's New in Downtown August 21st, 2026

Downtown has a fresh set of openings and near-openings to put on your radar. This is a practical first look at what is open now, what is coming soon, and what each place is aiming to be.

Recente

New World Italian cooking, spritzes and martinis, with a 60-seat dining room, courtyard, sidewalk cafe, and late-night Discoteca menu. A strong pick for a dinner that can turn into drinks.

Rabbit Books & Bar

A mother-daughter-run all-day bookshop/bar with coffee, wine, beer, snacks, and plenty of nooks. It is explicitly built around lingering, conversation, and low-key social plans.

Good Time Country Buffet

From the Kisa/C as in Charlie team: a $26.99 Southern buffet with fried chicken, sides, and rotating specials. Very much a bring-a-group, no-menu-decision dinner.

Cafe Charmant

The Corner Store/Catch group is opening a polished bistro with classic French dishes, raw bar options, and serious cocktail and wine talent. Likely to be a reservation-forward social scene.

Oishii at Chelsea Market

Oishii's first retail destination will sell its premium Japanese-inspired strawberries, strawberry-yuzu lemonade, pastries, and Japan-sourced finds. An easy daytime add-on around Chelsea Market.

Chippy's

Dame's team is spinning out its signature fish and chips into a casual counter-service spot with beer, disco fries, and late-night-friendly hours planned. The location and concept are confirmed; the date is still TBD.
